With the launch of the Aurora IV satellite, 99% of the Alaska geographic area will be covered with high-speed broadband service. This includes the most rugged and remote areas and small rural population centers that are difficult, if not impossible, to serve by terrestrial methods. The island chain of the Aleutians, all coastal areas of the state as well as small villages are included in the Aurora IV plans.
Aurora IV will sell direct-to-consumer services using antennas located on the customer premise. These user terminals will be 74cm to 180cm in size and installable in a few hours. Aurora IV will provide the infrastrucutre upstream of the satellite, including gateway services and fiber connections from the gateway facilities to the Internet.
